A message from Dr. Andrew Nullman about COVID-19 Digestive Issues

During the first couple of weeks of coronavirus outbreak it was established the virus was largely respiratory. It was later determined, the virus does not only bind to lung tissue, but also tissue of the colon, upper esophagus, and liver. Some patients with the COVID-19 virus reported diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal discomfort.

Please be aware that some smaller COVID-19 studies indicated that the virus could be found and spread through stool. Therefore, washing your hands after being to the toilet or cleaning up after children will help prevent the spread of the virus through the oral-fecal matter.

During these times of pandemic, we are taking every action possible to protect our patients, staff, and the community from COVID-19.

Stay Safe and be Well
